Hixie Emeline was born on April 30th, 1842 in Cumberland Co., North Carolina.1 Hixie Emeline's father was William Madison Tutor and her mother was Tellatha Powell. Her paternal grandparents were William Owen Tutor and Lucinda Senter. She had a brother and a sister, named William Owen and Dorcus A.. She was the youngest of the three children. She had five half-brothers and a half-sister, named James A., Reuben S., Jessie Harris, Samuel Green, Alfred Young and Mary E.. She died at the age of 84 on November 23rd, 1926 in Harnett Co., North Carolina. She was buried in Grove Church Cemetery.1 1 General Notes
