In researching land records, I find that John Roberts never used the des
ig nation Jr. or Sr. and referred to his son as John L. Roberts.

My name is Shirley Holder. The Roberts line is my husbands line. Dav
id D awson Holder and Angeline C. Roberts Holder are my husbands great gra
nd pa rents. In researching the Holder line I found that D D and Angeli
ne we re married by James Graham in Lamar County, Texas. I found John Rob
erts a nd wife Nancy with Angeline living with them before she marri
ed D D. T he gap between she and Lucy of six years made me wonder if s
he were Nancy 's step daughter. Nancy would only have been about 15 yea
rs old when Ange line would have been born. My husband and I went to t
he Lamar County Cou rt House to do some research. I was so excited wh
en we found the followi ng information.
Probate land patent listing heirs at law of James B. Anderson dece
as ed as Angeline C. Roberts, John Anderson, Margaret Anderson Cas
e, Jo hn L. Dillingham, and Elizabeth Jane Dillingham. 18 Feb 1856, Lam
ar Co., T x. Land located in Lamar, Hopkins, Fannin, and Red River Co., Tx
.
I have researced the Roberts and Anderson lines after I found that re
co rd hoping to find the name of Angeline's mother, thinking that it mu
st ha ve been Anderson. John L. Dillingham was married to Elizabeth Ja
ne Anders on, and Samuel or Nathaniel Case married Margaret Anderson. I w
as assumi ng that Angeline's mother would have been a sister to these wom
en and th us they would be Angeline's aunts and Jame B. Anderson Angeline
's grandfat her. I was able to find what I think is the Anderson line a
nd John Rober ts line a couple of generations back but no proof of Angelin
e's mother's n ame. I have been side tracked in other area's of resear
ch and life in gen eral and only recently decided I would pursue this sear
ch for Angeline's m other. To make a long story short I became very luck
y. About a week a go I found this.

Account filed against estate includes item, Oct 2, 1833, for pair of s

I feel pretty safe in assuming that Polly Ann Roberts is Angeline's mo
th er and John Roberts' first wife.
In pursuing this search I have come up with some interesting facts in Mi
ll er County, Arkansas about the Roberts family, which I am sure that y
ou a re probably more interested in than the Anderson family. You may alr
ea dy have the following information but I am going to forward it anyway.
