Gideon's father was Whipple Wesson, Dr. McCorcle and his mother was Cornelia Mildred Craig. His paternal grandparents were Archibald T. McCorcle and Carolina Eliza Matilda Cook Allen. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Denny Jenks, Port Ellis, Michael, Lavinia and Hester Jennette.
