Jay Mitchell was born on May 2nd, 1916.1 Jay Mitchell's father was James Alfred,3rd Keahey and his mother was Jennie Gossett. His paternal grandfather was John Mitchell Keahey and his paternal grandmother is Amanda Pilcher. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John William, Thomas Marion, Grover Patterson, Joseph Donald, Annie Laurie, Mary Lou, Clara Mae, Jimmie Lee, Mattie Ruth and Nellie Jane.
