Her paternal grandparents were Ozias Denton,Dr. Graham and Martha Matilda Thornton; her maternal grandfather was John Isbell Lamb and her maternal grandmother is Ann Eliza O'Keeffe. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Martin Luther, Harold Spurgeon, Leonard Edgar, John Denton, Howard Edward, Lloyd M., Rosyette, Leona, Bertie May and Carrol. She was the oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 79 on July 8th, 1964 in Gatesville, Coryell Co., Texas.
