William H. was born in 1882 in Madison Co., North Carolina.1 William H.'s father was Milford Wade Gosnell and his mother is Easter M. Fisher. His paternal grandfather is Wiley Gosnell and his paternal grandmother was Margaret Elizabeth Sams. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Frank R., James Lawson, Coy E., John Devitus, Victoria, Callie, Mada, Nell and Ada. He was the oldest of the ten children.
