John Alexander Gillis

John Alexander was born on March 18th, 1831.¹   John Alexander's father was Roderick D. Gillis and his mother is Margaret Mary Graham.  His maternal grandparents were Alexander Graham and Margaret McFarland. He has a sister named Mary.  He is the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named John A., Margaret and Flora Ann.

‌John Alexander and Catherine Jane were married in a religious ceremony on March 26th, 1868 in Cumberland, North Carolina.¹   They have a son and four daughters, named Archibald Alexander, Margaret Eliza, Sarah, Mary Alice and Annie Jane.
