Martha E. was born in 1859.1 Martha E.'s father was Nathan Braswell and her mother was Mahala Bain. Her paternal grandparents were Sampson Braswell and Priscilla Williams. She had three brothers and eight sisters, named Dempsey, Aaron, William, Mary, Nancy Caroline, Sarah A., Millie, Mahala, Louisa, Paralee and Lucretia.
