Briant Smith was born on August 9th, 1863 in Limestone Co., Alabama.1 Briant Smith's father was Levi Sampson Bassham and his mother was Sarah Smith. His paternal grandparents were Richard Basham and Pheebee Pinnicuff. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph C., John W., James William, Mary J., Martha Ann and Phebe J..
