Mahala Basham 
Mahala was born on November 15th, 1837 in Virginia.1 Mahala's father was Joel Basham and her mother was Sophia Asbury. Her paternal grandparents were David Basham and Suspected First Wife Unknown. She had eight brothers and five sisters, named Edmund, Isaac V., Solomon M., Joel W., Jr., John, William V., Daniel Tucker, George W., Nancy Ann (Annie), Armatha, Julina, Mary L. and Sarah Elizabeth. She was the third oldest of the fourteen children. She died at the age of 53 on April 22nd, 1891. She was buried in Lexington, Lafayette, Mo., Catholic Cem..1 1 General Notes
