Luther E. was born about 1888 in Kentucky.1 Luther E.'s father was James Timothy Barkley Basham and his mother was Angeline Decker. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Wesley (Rev) Basham and Sally Davis Young. He had a brother and a sister, named Walter E. and Ella M.. He was the oldest of the three children.
