Matilda's father was George Freeman Overturf and her mother was Elenora Raines. Her paternal grandparents were John Mitchell Overturf and Catherine Shadley; her maternal grandfather is John P. Raines. She had five brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Stormy Lawrence, Gourley Andrew, John Auburn, Forest Elsworth, UNKNOWN, Amanda Zamora, Julia Catherine and UNKNOWN.-
