Lavina's father is Simon Freeman Overturf and her mother is Lydia Bonham. Her paternal grandparents were Simon Overturf and Mary DeBolt. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Simon Peter, Marion Josiah, Eli, Reason C., Jacob Bonham, Lydia M., Amaretta, Mary Ann, Nancy, Eliza Jane, Rachel and Hulda.-
