Family records said he served in both the American Rev. and War of 1812. The Hamrick sons had a helmet that he wore in the War of 1812. They used to play with this helmet, per Sarah Anderson Suter. Alexander's home (which was his father's) still stands on Rt 732 (2003).

This tombstone was placed by me from the Department of Defense after Mrs. Suter gave me information to mark a soldier's grave which has no sotne. We had the tombstone installed in Shutterle Cem. near his wife's tombstone. My brother John and I went there for the installation on March 15, 1990. Mr and Mrs Suter and Blanche Swortzel attended too.
