"Notes for James Ambrose Logan:
James married and went to Rock Island, Ill. They had several children, James and his family were in Galveston, TX disaster and are now in Davenport, Iowa.**
**(The big disaster of Galveston was the 1900 hurricane-this must have been another one)
Davenport, Scott Co.,Iowa September 26 1887:
James Logan died at his home, 1915 Fourth Avenue at 3:30 this morningof general debility. He has been a sufferer from rheumatic troubles for years, and this, with a complication of diseases caused his death. He as born in Pennsylvania, May 15, 1811, was a tanner by trade and has been a resident of Rock Island since 1861. With his aged wife are left six children***.
***(Only five children are accounted for in this report.)

Sheriff James Ambrose Logan was in Galveston, Texas during the disaster there. He was a Methodist, his wife was Episcopalian and his father(Samuel) who lived with him for some time previous to death was a Stone Presbyterian.
