Arent was born on July 11th, 1632 in Amsterdam, North Holland, Holland and his baptism took place on July 11th, 1632 in Amsterdam, No. Holland, Netherlands. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Ewout, Ewout, Arent, Maijke Or Mayre, Elizabeth, Lijsbetjen (Leysebeth, Elisabeth), Elizabeth and Maijke Or Mayre.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.  Arent is no longer alive.
