Joanna was born on February 15th, 1683 in Swansea, Bristol, Mass. Joanna's father was John MARTIN and her mother was Joanna (Joan) ESTEN (EUSTANCE). Her paternal grandparents were Edward (Richard) Martyn and Judith UPHAM; her maternal grandparents were Thomas ESTEN and Ann Thomas. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Melatiah, John, Ephraim, Robert, Manasseh, Ebenezer, Jemima, Ann and Judith. She was the third youngest of the ten children.
