Margaret was born in 1208 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. Margaret's father was Robert de Quincey and her mother was Hawise de Keveliock. Her paternal grandparents were Saher IV de Quincey and Margaret de Bellomont; her maternal grandparents were Hugh de Kevelioc and Bertrade de Montfort. She had a brother and three sisters, named Roger, Hawise, Mabel and Lucy. She was the oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Henry, Anne, Joane and Hawise.-
