William de Grentmesnil 
William was born about 1054. William's father was I Hugh and his mother was Aelis Beatrix de Beaumont. His paternal grandparents were Robert de Grentmesnil and Hawise d'Eschauffon; his maternal grandparents were Ivo (Yvres) and Judith Adela de Gournay. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Robert, Hugh, Ivo, Alberic, Halewise, Rohese, Adeliza, Matilda (Maud), Agnes and Hawise. He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He had a half-brother named Robert IV.-
