Halewise was born about 1058. Halewise's father was I Hugh and her mother was Aelis Beatrix de Beaumont. Her paternal grandparents were Robert de Grentmesnil and Hawise d'Eschauffon; her maternal grandparents were Ivo (Yvres) and Judith Adela de Gournay. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Robert, William, Hugh, Ivo, Alberic, Rohese, Adeliza, Matilda (Maud), Agnes and Hawise. She was the third oldest of the eleven children. She had a half-brother named Robert IV.-
