Katie Smith 
Katie was born in December 1882 in Forreston, Ogle, Illinois. Katie's father was Tjark (Jackson) Smidt and her mother was Wopke Muntenga. Her paternal grandparents were Jakob Heijen Gerdes Smidt and Frauke (Fanny) DeGrave. She had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Jacob (Jimmie), Fannie, Dena and Clara. She was the second oldest of the six children.-
