Maud was born about 1192 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  Maud's father was William Mareschal and her mother was Isabel FitzGilbert de Clare.  Her paternal grandparents were John "le Mareschal" fitz Gilbert and Sybil d'Evereaux; her maternal grandparents were Richard "Strongbow" de Clare and Aoife (Eve) McMurrough. She had five brothers and five sisters, named William, Gilbert, Richard, Walter, Anselm, Margaret, Eve, Sibyl, Isabella (Marshall) and Joane.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.  She died on March 27th, 1248 in Warren, Sussex, England.  She was buried in Lewes Priory, Sussex, England.

They had a son named John.


Maud's second family with Hugh Le Bigod

They had four sons and a daughter, named Ralph, Sir Hugh, Sir Simon, Roger and Isabel.
