Melvin was born on October 11th, 1885. Melvin's father was James Powers and his mother was Paulina Rhoads. His paternal grandparents were Marsham (Massa) Powers and Jane Holmes. He had two brothers and a sister, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Dailey, Hosea, Kitty and F-------. He died at the age of 75 on January 7th, 1961. He was buried in Freedom Cem. Warrick County,Indiana.-
