1.William drove a freight wagon from Springfield, MO to Little Rock, Ark. In June 1876, There were three freight wagons making this trip and they stopped at Twin Creek to water the mules. William was driving a young team of mules that he was breaking in. His shoes were wet from watering the mules and as he started to step on the doubletree, his foot slipped. The mules startled and ran, the freight wagon ran over him, Dragging him about 200 yards. He died three weeks later, on June 28, 1876. His wife, Sarah Ann died on July 13, 1879. No markers or records have been found to verify where they were burried, but it is believed it would be either the old Berryville Cemetery which was used until 1899 ( located behind the 1880 Courthouse ) and was destroyed and is now the Pioneer Park, or the Snow or Briley Cemeteries which are very near to the Jones Homesite.
