Lewis-Lambertus was born in 1673 in Leeuwarden,Friesland,Netherlands. Lewis-Lambertus' father was Garrett Hendricksz de Wees and his mother was Sytie Lieuwes. His paternal grandparents were Hendrick Adriaensz de Wees and Adriaentje Jans-------------; his maternal grandparents were poss Lieuwes Lamberts and poss Dievertie. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Hendrick, William, Cornelius, Dievertie, Ariaentie, Lysbeth and Wilhelmina Pietre. He died in Kent County,Delaware.General Notes
Possibly named after maternal grandfather thus named Lieuwes Lamberts Garrits using the patronym system of The Netherlands and when attaining legal age he chose to be called Lewis Dewees or Lieuwes Dewees
Lewis was a weaver by trade and followed that occupation for some years in Philadelphia. Early in 1727 he removed with his family to what is now Kent County, DE and purchased 22 Feb 1727, tree hundred acres on the northe side of Fishing Creek where he lived until his death in the early spring of 1743.

Cornelius Dewees
Cornelius was born in 1716 in Kent County,Delaware. He died at the age of 75 in 1791 in Kent County,Delaware.
Jonathan Dewees
