Lewis was born on March 27th, 1776 in not proven. Lewis' father was *Charles (Sr.) DeMoss and his mother was Rebecca Throckmorton. His paternal grandparents were *Louis DeMoss and *Catherine; his maternal grandparents were Job (Jr) Throckmorton and Frances. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named *Andrew, John, Peter, Charles (Jr), Thomas, Throckmorton, William, Susanna, Catherine and Sarah.
