Joan was born in 1405 in Westminster,Middlesex England.  Joan's father was John Beaufort Marquis of Somerset Marquis of and her mother was Margaret Holland Duchess of Clarence Duchess of.  Her paternal grandparents were John "Of Gaunt", Duke of Lancaster and Katherine de Roet; her maternal grandparents were Thomas of Holland Earl Kent and Alice Fitzalan.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 40 on July 15th, 1445 in Dunbar Castle,Dunbar,East Lothian,Scotland.  She was buried on November 22nd, 1445 in Charterhouse,Perth,Perthshire,Scotland.1
