Robert was born about 1240 in Rotherfield, Oxfordshire, England. Robert's father was Walter De Grey and his mother was Isabel De Duston. His paternal grandparents were Robert De Grey and Beatrix De Sculcotes; his maternal grandfather was William De Duston. He was an only child. He died in 1295.
They had a son named John.
