Edward Merritt 
Edward was born in 1698 in Rye, Westchester Co., New York. Edward's father was Thomas III Merritt and his mother was Martha Marshall. His paternal grandparents were Thomas II Merritt and Jane Sherwood. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, Benoni, Thomas VI and Mercy. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 93 in 1791 in Rye, Westchester Co., New York.-
