Foulques III of Anjou, known as Le Noir (the Black), was born on June 21st, 0967 in , Anjou, France.  Le Noir (the Black)'s father was Ct. Geoffroi I of Anjou (Grisegonnelle) and his mother was Adelais (Adelaide) of Vermandois.  His paternal grandparents were Ct. Foulques II of Anjou and Gerverge of Arles or Gatinais; his maternal grandparents were Ct. Robert of Troyes and Adelaideor Adela of Bourgogne. He had two sisters named Ermengardeof Anjou and Gerberge of Anjou. He had two half-sisters named Mathildeof Chalons and Elisabeth of Chalons.  He died before June 21st, 1040 in Metz.

‌Le Noir (the Black) and Hildegarde were married in a religious ceremony in 1000 in Anjou, France.  They had a daughter named Ermengardeof Anjou.
