Of Metz's father was Graf Budwine of Metz and her mother was Richildeof Arles.  Her paternal grandfather was Ct. Robert of Amiens; her maternal grandfather was Ct. Boso III of Turin. She had a brother and a sister, named Boso II of Provence and Richildis (Richaut) of Metz. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Boso II of Provence, Richard of Bourgogne, Boson II of L Bourgogne, Theodoric of Autun and of Metz.

They had a son named Manasses of Chalons.
