Edward, known as The Elder, was born in 0869 in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey.  The Elder's father was King Alfred (The Great) England and his mother was Ealswith of Mercia.  His paternal grandparents were King Aethelwulf England and Osburh Von Wessex; his maternal grandparents were Aethelred "Mucel" Ealdorman of the Gainai and Eadburh of Mercia. He had three brothers and a sister, named Edmund of, Athelstan King of the, Athelstan King of the and Aethelflaed of Mercia Lady of.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 55 on July 17th, 0924 in Farndon-on-dee.
