Her paternal grandparents were James HALL and Rachel McCOON or MACOUNE or MEEKOUME; her maternal grandparents were James BROWN and Joanna WHITEHEAD. She had three brothers and four sisters, named James, Joshua, Simeon, Elizabeth, Chloe, Huldah and Desire. She was the oldest of the eight children. She had a half-sister named Rebecca Jane.-
