Ermengarde of was born in Lower,Lorraine,France. Ermengarde of's father was Charles I le Gros, Duke of Lower Lorraine and her mother was Bonne Adelaide de Lorraine. Her paternal grandparents were Louis IV "Transmarinus" King Of France and Gerberga of Saxony; her maternal grandparents were Gottfried "The Old" Count of Verdun and Matilda Billung of Saxony. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Othon , Duke of Lower Lorraine, Duke Alto of, Eudes, Duc de, Duke Karl of, Duke Ludwig of, Charles Prince of, Gerberga (Gerbega) of, Gerberge De and Ermengarde (Adélaïde) de. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Ludwig Count Of and Ermengarde (Adelaide) Princess. She died in 1044.General Notes

"Moriarty, "Plantagenet Ancestry," pp. 125 & 128 shows the wife of
ALBERT I DE NAMUR to be Ermentrude (Adelaide), daughter of CHARLES,
DUKE OF LOWER LORRAINE, and his wife, ADELAIDE, whose parentage is
not identified. Weis, "Ancestral Roots," 149:19-20; Winkhaus, "Ahnen zu
Karl dem Grossen und Widukind,: pp. 103 & 127; and Schwennicke (ed.),
"Europaische Stammtafeln," ii, 1 and vii, 68 similarly identify the wife
of ALBERT I DE NAMUR.
Christian Settipani, "La prehistoire des Capetiens: 481-987," and
Winfred Glocker, "Die Verwandten der Ottonen und ihre Bedeutung in der
Polotik," show an ancestry for Ermengarde, wife of ALBERT I DE NAMUR,
which differs from Moriarty, et al., as well as from the two versions
listed above by Pierre-Yves Roy."
[following is my synopsis]: Ermangarde's father was Otto Duke of Lower
Lorraine, (970-1006). Otto was the son of Charles , thus inserting a
generation beteween Ermengarde and her traditional father. Otto's
mother is given as an unnamed daughter of ROBERT DE VERMANDOIS
(931/934 - 966), Count of Meaux, Count of Troyes.
