Hawise Le Strange 
Hawise was born about 1236 in Of Chesawardine,Shropshire,England.1 Hawise's father was John III Le Strange and her mother was Lucy De Tregoz. Her paternal grandparents were John II Le Strange and Amise De Chesawardine; her maternal grandparents were UNKNOWN Tregoz and Julia DE CANTILUPE. She had two brothers named John IV and Robert. She was the youngest of the three children. She died in 1310.1 General Notes

footnote that page: Hawise Lestrange married Gruffydd ap Gwenwynwyn
in 1242. He died in 1291, and in 1292, she petitioned the king about
her dower. There was a deed of dower by her husband in Shropshire and
the king's attorney argued that the deed infringed the Magna Charta,
was contrary to common law, and therefore was void. Hawise ultimately
withdrew her petition. Powicke says "She was doubtless treated hardly.
When she married she could not - at least it was said - be endowed in
Wales, so her husband had given her all his land in Derbyshire, the
manor of Ashford; but according to Magna Charta, she should only have got a third of the manor." Powicke calls her "...a great lady of Shropshire, the widow of the still greater lord of Powys..."
