His paternal grandfather was Gerulf Count of Friesland; his maternal grandfather was Pepin I de Vermandois Comte de Senlis. He had a brother and a sister, named Dirk II Count of and Hildegarde de. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died about 0983.General Notes
