Martha Ester Thomas 
Martha Ester was born on July 15th, 1895 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Martha Ester's father was William Houston Thomas and her mother was Martha Ella Smith. Her paternal grandparents were William Horton Thomas and Martha Frances Ford; her maternal grandparents were John Alexander, Sr. Smith and Nancy Logan. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William Houston, Jr., Arthur Patrick, John Sebron, Arron Bartley, Mary Etta, Nancy Scottie, Anette and Clara. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She had a half-sister named Hattie Beatrice. She died at the age of 77 on August 23rd, 1972 in Coosa Co., AL. She and her husband John, lived in the old family home outside of
Rockford until her death. Buried at Shady Grove Baptist Cemetery, Coosa
Co. Alabama. She had two foster sons, Mickey and Roger Davis who were
never adopted because their mother was still alive and in a mental
hospital. Esther and John
bought her parents (William Houston Thomas) homeplace.
