Sarah Jane was born on February 1st, 1835 in Randolph Co., GA.1 Sarah Jane's father was Simpson McLendon and her mother was Elizabeth Eugenia Castellow. Her paternal grandparents were Stephens McLendon and Catherine Jenkins; her maternal grandparents were John Bryant Castellow and Amy Hill McClendon. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Simpson, William B., Andrew Jackson, John C., James Isham, Martha, Harriet, Amy, Eliza and Mary Etta. She was the third oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 87 on May 22nd, 1922 in Pike Co., AL. She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, Pike Co., AL.1 1 General Notes
