Gladys Lucile was born on July 3rd, 1907.1 Gladys Lucile's father was John Henry Houston and her mother was Mary Cassandra Douglas. Her paternal grandparents were William Henry Houston and Civility Priscilla Bennett; her maternal grandparents were Archibald McLendon Douglas and Cassandra Augusta Hurley. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Ned Douglas, Harry Hilton, John Henry, Jr., Wilda, Ethel Cornelia, Mary and Mabel. She was the second oldest of the eight children.-
