Josie Pearl Goodwin 
Josie Pearl was born on March 12th, 1908 in Brookwood, MS.1 Josie Pearl's father was Asa Edward Goodwin and her mother was Josephine Elizabeth Stewart. Her paternal grandparents were Asa Amos, Jr. Goodwin and Georgianna Ann M. Spradley; her maternal grandparents were John Stewart and Elizabeth Duvall. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Infant Boy, Asa Edward IV, Houston Stewart, Edna Irene, Georgia Elizabeth, Maude Marie, Lena Mae, Fannie Eva, Infant Girs and Daryl Maxine. She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 4 on November 25th, 1912 in Marianna, AR.1 General Notes

Josie Pearl Goodwin died of diphtheria along with her sister, Fannie
Eva. They took diphtheria from Edna Goodwin who recovered. Edna never
forgave herself for bringing this infection home from school. Apparently
they had not been vaccinated. Years later Edna was taken to get a
vaccination, but it would not take. Her case had made her immune.
