Robert was born in 1086 in Caen, Calvados, Normandie.  Robert's father was King Henry I Beauclerc of England and his mother was Princess/of Deheubarth Nesta ferch Rhiwallon of Deheubarth.  His paternal grandparents were William I "The Conqueror" King of England de Normandie and Princess/Queen of England Mathilde de Flandres; his maternal grandparents were Rhys King of Deheubarth/King of Wales/ap Tewdwr and Gwladus Gwladys Gwladys. He had a brother named Henry. He had sixteen half-brothers and twenty-two half-sisters, named Robert, William, William, Rainald, Gilbert, William, Richard, Robert, Henry, Robert, Robert, Gilbert, Richard, Fulk, Richard, Maurice, Sibyl Elizabeth, Gundred, Rohese, Matilda (Maud), Eustacie, Alice, Daughter, Elizabeth, Matilda, Euphamia, Isabel, Isabel, Maud, Princess, Maud, Emma, Maud, Juliane, Constance, Juliane, Mathilde and Alix.  He died at the age of 61 on October 31st, 1147 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.  He was buried in Priory of St. James, Bristol, Gloucester, England.

‌Robert and Mabel were married in a religious ceremony about 1109 in of England.  They had five sons and two daughters, named Roger, Hamon, William, Philip, Richard, Maud and Mabira.
