Roger 3rd Baron de's father was John 1st Baron de Moels , of Cadbury & Maperton and his mother was Maud de Grey. His paternal grandfather was Roger de Moels , of Cadbury & Maperton, Sir Knt; his maternal grandparents were John 2nd Baron de Grey , of Wilton and Maud de Verdun. He had a brother named John 4th Baron de. He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother named Nicholas 2nd Baron de. He died before July 13th, 1316 in (dsp).General Notes

ROGER (DE MOELS), LORD MOELS, brother and heir, born about 11 June 1295. On 5 March 1316 he was holding, either in part or as a whole, the townships of Throwley, Chagford, Sbilston, Sprayton, Whitchurch, Buckland, and Bickleigh, co. Devon; and Over, and Nether Worton, co. Oxford; the King holding the hundred of Stanborough, and the townships of Langford, Lister, Boterford and Aveton Giffard, by reason of Roger's minority. He did homage 29 June 1316, and had livery of his brother's lands, although he had not proved his age. He was not summoned to Parliament. He died unmarried, before 13 July 1316.
