Raymond of was born about 1060 in Dijon, Cote d'Or, Bourgogne, France.  Raymond of's father was William I "The Great" Count of Macon & Burgundy and his mother was Stephanie (Etiennette) de Longwy.  His paternal grandparents were Renaud I Count Palatine of Burgundy and Alice Adelaide of Normandy; his maternal grandparents were Adalbert III Count Longwy , Duke Upper Lorraine and Clemence de Foix. He had a brother and five sisters, named Stephen (Etienne) "Tete Hardi" Comte de, Ermentrude of, Bertha of, Matilda of, Gisela of and Clemence Clementia of.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died on March 26th, 1107 in Grajal Do Campos, Leon, Spain.
