Stephen (Etienne) "Tete Hardi" Comte de was born about 1050 in Macon, Saone-et-Loire, Bourgogne, France.  Stephen (Etienne) "Tete Hardi" Comte de's father was William I "The Great" Count of Macon & Burgundy and his mother was Stephanie (Etiennette) de Longwy.  His paternal grandparents were Renaud I Count Palatine of Burgundy and Alice Adelaide of Normandy; his maternal grandparents were Adalbert III Count Longwy , Duke Upper Lorraine and Clemence de Foix. He had a brother and five sisters, named Raymond of, Ermentrude of, Bertha of, Matilda of, Gisela of and Clemence Clementia of.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died on May 27th, 1102 in Murdered at Askalon, France.
