America Snoddy

America was born about 1838 in Indiana.  America's father was Samuel Snoddy and her mother was Jane Shields.  Her maternal grandparents were William L., Sr. Shields and Nancy Elizabeth Nash. She had three brothers and two sisters, named William, John M., James M., Nancy A. and Martha P..  She was the third youngest of the six children.

‌America and John H. were married in a religious ceremony on March 12th, 1863 in Monroe County, Indiana.
