Elsie was born on July 28th, 1928. Elsie's father was Perry Smith and her mother was Ruth Etta Glascoe. Her paternal grandparents were John Smith and Elizabeth Eads; her maternal grandparents were John William Glascoe and Catherine Katy Deckard. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Elbert, Delbert, Herman, Eithel Harold, Lloyd, Minza Leona, Velma, Grace, Ruby Floene and Ruby Floene.-
