Thomas Simmons 
Thomas was born in 1836 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Thomas' father was James G. Simmons and his mother was Sarah Gillenwater. His paternal grandparents were James Simmons and Elizabeth Gillenwaters; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Gillenwater and Mary Mallory Wilkins. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, James, William, Clay, Mary, Nancy, Rachel, Martha and Sarah. He was the third oldest of the ten children.-
