Susan Shanks 
Susan was born in 1844 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Susan's father was John S. Shanks and her mother was Nancy. Her paternal grandfather was John Shanks. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Jacob, James, Henry, George, Jane, Emeline and Sarah. She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
