Emeline Shanks 
Emeline was born in 1849 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Emeline's father was John S. Shanks and her mother was Nancy. Her paternal grandfather was John Shanks. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Jacob, James, Henry, George, Susan, Jane and Sarah. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
