James Merritt 
James' father was Thomas Merritt and his mother was Mary Goodson. His paternal grandparents were John Merritt and Mary Haywood; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Goodson and Elizabeth. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Benjamin, William, Barbara, Charlotte, Frances, Margaret, Martha and Mary.
